What is Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA)?

The Core Components of ABA Therapy

Comprehensive Assessments

ABA begins with a thorough assessment to identify the behaviours and skills that need support. This assessment becomes the foundation for an individualized plan.

Individualized Treatment Plans

Every child is unique. Treatment plans are tailored to your child’s developmental stage, strengths, and goals.

Skill Development

Programs may include communication, social interaction, learning readiness, self-care, daily living skills, and academic foundations.

Behavioural Transformation

We reinforce positive behaviours and reduce challenging behaviours using evidence-based strategies such as positive reinforcement, prompting, and systematic desensitization (when appropriate).

Empowering
Families

Families are a key part of success. We provide coaching and training so you can support progress at home and across settings.

Data-Driven
Approach

ABA relies on data collection to measure progress and guide clinical decisions. We continuously review data and adjust the plan as needed.

Our ABA Service Options (choose what fits your child)

ABA is flexible. The “best” ABA service depends on your child’s needs, goals, and circumstances. We will help you choose the right level of support and build a plan that creates meaningful outcomes for your child and family.

Comprehensive ABA Services

Comprehensive ABA services take a broad and holistic approach. They address multiple developmental domains and goals over time. Comprehensive ABA may include communication, social interaction, behaviour support, learning readiness, daily living skills, and more—across different settings and routines.

Key features:

  • Broad scope across skill areas and environments

  • Multiple goals tracked at the same time

  • Regular ongoing sessions over an extended period

  • Continuous data collection and progress monitoring

Focused ABA Services

Focused ABA services target a specific set of behaviours or skills in a more concentrated way. This is often recommended when there are clear priority goals that require a targeted plan and consistent practice.

Consultative ABA Services

Consultative ABA services provide expert guidance and support to help children, families, and professionals build skills and create positive behaviour change. This model is helpful when your child has support already (home, school, tutoring, childcare) and you want an experienced clinician to guide strategies, goals, and implementation

Parent-Child Training (Parent Coaching)

arent-Child Training (also called Parent Coaching) helps parents learn practical ABA strategies to support communication, cooperation, play skills, daily routines, and emotional regulation. The goal is to help you feel confident, consistent, and supported—so progress continues between sessions and generalizes into real life.

Parent coaching is a great option if you want support with: following instructions, reducing challenging behaviours, transitions, daily routines (morning, bedtime, toileting), building communication, increasing independence, and improving family routines with less stress.

How it works:

  • We set clear goals together

  • We model strategies in real time

  • You practice with coaching and feedback

  • We adjust strategies to fit your family

  • We track progress and update goals

Behaviour Consultation

Behaviour Consultation is designed to help you understand what is driving your child’s behaviours and what to do next—step by step. We look at patterns, triggers, and what your child may be communicating through behaviour. Then we build a practical plan that supports regulation, safety, and skill development at home, school, and in the community.

Behaviour consultation may be a good fit if you are seeing: frequent meltdowns, aggression, self-injury, elopement, refusal/escape behaviours, transitions difficulties, toileting challenges, sleep routines, feeding or mealtime behaviours, or challenges participating in school and community activities.

What you can expect:

  • A clinical intake to understand priorities

  • Review of history and current routines

  • Direct observation (in clinic, home, school, or virtual when appropriate)

  • Clear strategies that are realistic for your family

  • Coaching for parents and/or caregivers

  • Data tracking (simple and doable) to measure progress

Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) — Early Intervention Within ABA

The Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) is an evidence-based early intervention approach for young children diagnosed with or at risk for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). It integrates developmental and behavioural strategies in a play-based, relationship-focused framework.

Core Principles of ESDM

Individualized and Play-Based Learning
Children learn best through engaging, meaningful activities. ESDM uses play to build social engagement, communication, and cognitive skills.

Responsive Parent Involvement
Parents are active partners. We coach caregivers during sessions so strategies can be used at home and across settings.

Functional Emotional Development
ESDM prioritizes emotional connection and social relationships as a foundation for learning.

Naturalistic Strategies
We build learning opportunities into everyday routines to support generalization beyond the clinic.

Data-Driven Progress Monitoring
We track progress consistently and adjust the plan to meet your child’s developmental needs.
